Ever noticed that when you 'cut back' on activities or try to, that somehow more just seems to end back up on your plate without you even noticing it? Or maybe you notice it more because now you are getting to the neglected things you couldn't before? Either way, I think our lives in general are just filled with too many 'things'. I remember when there was far less technology readily available, in fact, my first computer operated from DOS, not windows! Does that make me a dinosaur, no, not really, it just shows how quickly things can change in 20 years. Speaking of change, we can also apply that to ourselves and the people in our lives, past, present and future. Do you ever view your friendships as part of your journey in life and that each may have it's 'season'? Some have long seasons, while others are short, so the trick is being aware and learning when a season of friendship is passing or has passed or is there for the duration. When you think the friendship is passing or has passed, do you ever wonder if it was something you did? Maybe it was or maybe your interests and goals have changed. It could be that those of your friends have, even or especially, when you've not had any dissention or harsh words exchanged. People grow and our needs change with that growth, sometimes bringing us closer to others or moving us further apart. When you do become aware of this change, do you try to hang on and stay with the status quo, or do you move on and take a lesson learned from it? The connotation of lesson learned usually has a negative consequence, but not all lessons we need to learn are negative, some are positive. We all have something to learn from others, the trick is to focus on what you need to learn and not who you are learning it from. God always puts just the right person in our life at just the right time for a lesson, we're the ones who may or may not be open to the changin' times...
Food for thought? I'll have to let that one gel for a while and see what comes to mind... Maybe you could too and share yours with me...
